Laser aesthetics studio opens

STAFFORD - Stafford resident Maggie Kim has combined her passion for teaching with her interest in cosmetology in order to open the first school in the state that is dedicated to laser aesthetics.

Kim, who opened Rejuvalase MedSpa in North Stafford last March, took her interest in laser hair removal one step farther, launching the Northern Virginia Laser Training school. The 40-hour, state-approved program allows students to become certified laser specialists.

"I have a passion for this industry and there is always going to be a part of me that wants to teach," Kim said. "So this allows me to combine my two interests."

Kim said although there are no state requirements for people working in the laser industry, lawmakers are beginning to crack down and in the near future, people will have to be certified laser specialists to stay in the business.

Northern Virginia Laser Training is Virginia's only state-approved school devoted to laser aesthetics. While we encourage those with backgrounds in aesthetics and/or medicine to enroll, our program is open to anyone. Our school offers primary certification for laser hair removal only, and our advanced certifi-cation is also for vein reduction and photorejuvenation. We also offer training certificates in microdermabrasion.
